Recent Security Update - Office 365

As part of Microsoft's ongoing commitment to safeguarding your digital information, they have begun enabling Security Defaults across your Office 365 account. This essential update is designed to significantly improve your account protection and help mitigate potential cyber threats. As part of this update, you will be required to set up and use the Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile device in order to log into your Office 365 account. This extra layer of security adds an additional verification step, ensuring that only you can access your sensitive information and data. Once set up this app is used to log into your Office 365 accounts.

With security default enabled, your account will automatically disconnect until you set up the authenticator app. We have disabled this feature for any customer who has requested it, but if you are still experiencing this issue, and would like security defaults disabling please contact our support team.  Once disabled please allow 15 minutes for the changes to take effect, and then restart any devices connected to your email account. This should restore your connection, and if prompted, please enter your password to complete the reconnection process.

The Role of the Microsoft Authenticator App

To align with these security enhancements, it is now necessary for you to set up the Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile device. The Microsoft Authenticator app plays a crucial role in securing your login process. Once configured, you will use this app to seamlessly sign into your Office 365 account, adding an extra layer of security known as two-factor authentication (2FA).

Action Steps for You

1.     Download the Microsoft Authenticator app from your mobile device's app store.

2.     Follow the setup guide provided by Microsoft here https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/office/set-up-your-microsoft-365-sign-in-for-multi-factor-authentication-ace1d096-61e5-449b-a875-58eb3d74de14

3.     Test the login process to ensure everything is working smoothly.

We understand that changes to your account access procedure may come as a surprise, but we assure you that these updates are in the best interest of protecting your data and personal information.
